Dreaming of something exciting?
As I wrap up my marketing internship at Continental and the 2024 year I feel gratitude and a sense of accomplishment. This journey has been nothing short of transformative. I’d love to share some of the highlights and memorable experiences that made this internship so special for me.
I learned so much about tailoring marketing strategies for different audiences. As a global company Continental had to follow a certain language, style guides and cultural tone, especially with our headquarters in Germany, this aspect allowed me to gain a global business perspective and was an exciting layer of complexity to my projects. From a high-level view within ContiTech, the focus of marketing strategies for our CES audience was on detailed specs and facts. In contrast, our distributors and end-users were also drawn to eye-catching visuals and real-life product applications. When it was time to craft email campaigns and social posts these factors were crucial to understand and my finished work then had to be sent for approval and translation into Portuguese and Spanish.
I quickly learned that marketing doesn’t happen without whole lot of collaboration. Whether it was coordinating with external agencies like VML or Barolin & Spencer, working alongside product managers, providing material for sales reps or meeting with our internal communications team, collaboration was at the core of every project. I had the chance to have one-on-one conversations with leadership personnel from various departments including heads of production, operations, HR, finance, our CEO and more—gaining insights into how marketing fits into the larger picture of the company and learning lessons about leadership, interpersonal relationships, networking and general life lessons I will always carry with me. Our monthly MarCom meetings were a great way to keep everyone aligned, share ideas, and develop new strategies together, other departments were often invited to voice their concerns and ideas and this feedback was used in our team meetings, prioritized, and made into actionable steps to improve overall marketing efforts.
Continental's global nature also allowed for many different aspects of learning despite the time zone challenges, for example I attended a virtual AI seminar out of Germany that provided me with a deeper understanding of AI advancements in manufacturing.

Managing multiple deadlines and projects was a constant during my internship. I utilized the software, Notion to log every project’s details, deadlines, and progress, staying organized and proactive with each projects' tasks.
Lawn & Garden Brochure Mock up

Lawn & Garden Brochure One of my projects was expanding the Lawn & Garden flyer into a four-panel brochure. I collaborated with designated product managers to gather necessary product details and designed a mock-up featuring strong visuals, including a scene of someone pulling out of their garage on a lawnmower. This project honed my skills in content creation, design, and project management.
AirSeeder Campaign For the AirSeeder campaign set to launch in 2025, I worked with team members to discuss initial campaign strategies for an integrated campaign with multiple stages. I followed up with our printing partner company for creative mailer examples, ensuring our first external communication would be impactful.
I also played a role in merging a newly acquired conveyor belt company, discussing with the team on crafting messages to their customers ensuring a smooth transition and enhanced public image.
Memorable Presentations
Learning Bites: I organized a presentation offering small hacks to improve work efficiency such as writing efficient prompts for AI.
Ambassador Program Benchmarking: I did a deep dive in 5 companies' ambassador programs and presented my findings and insights on how Continental could implement a similar initiative to build customer trust and loyalty for a larger Brand Confidence project.
Competitive Benchmarking: One of my initial projects and my favorite, I conducted an in-depth analysis of our Hydraulics Hose competitors, comparing their products, specs, and marketing messages to strategize for a long term goal of increasing our market share in this product category.
The diversity, kindness, respect, and efficiency at the office was truly inspiring. Despite the company’s hierarchical structure, every person I interacted with was very generous with their time and guidance for me and had genuine intentions to make a different in the workplace. My manager, Anthony, played a pivotal role in my growth, offering opportunities to expand my knowledge in international marketing.
I found some industry trends during my internship which fascinated me, such as the use of cooling hoses in AI data centers, total conveyance technology and the overall vast variety of applications for Continental's products in the B2B manufacturing realm.
Attending the 2025 Planning meeting with VML was an eye-opener, where I learned about advanced marketing strategies, analytics tools, and personal development tips. Meeting and working alongside successful, hardworking female figures in marketing had a lasting influence on me, forever fueling my passion for marketing and my dream. This experience taught me to speak my mind, network effectively, and strive for continuous improvement.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunities, experiences, and relationships that have shaped my journey. This internship has not only helped me gain advanced marketing skills but also impacted my personal growth, leaving me a better professional and human.
